The Aquarian Age and the New Economic Paradigm

First of all, some technical information:

Astrologers define the Ages according to the constellation on the Ascendant at the Vernal Equinox. Each Age lasts over 2,000 years and the total cycle 26,000 years, to go through all twelve zodiacal signs. The precession of the equinoxes, caused by a slight wobble of the earth on its axis, explains why the position of the Ascendant on the Vernal Equinox moves back by about one degree every 72 years.

The synetic vernal point, as it is called, is currently at about 5 degrees Pisces, so we are still in the Age of Pisces - until the year 2374, and then the synetic vernal point will be in Aquarius for over 2,000 years. That will be the Age of Aquarius. However, because the Age of Aquarius is only 5 degrees away, we are beginning to notice its effects. We are also noticing some signs of the end of the Piscean Age.

In the Piscean Age, the economic system has been characterized by large corporations and institutions which are like cloisters, in that the people working for them each have their own, sheltered, little job to do. There have been walls, both physical and psychological, between the people, in order to uphold the Piscean value of seclusion. The workers go home to their separate, little houses or apartments, in their separate vehicles, and they each have their own family, which is private and separate from other families. This lifestyle is set up to enable each person to look within and have his or her own, private thoughts and individual relationship with God, rather than with each other. This system is ultimately neither good nor bad, but it is nearing the end of its cycle.

In the Aquarian Age, the economic system will be radically different from the previous model. People have already come to question whether the human leaders of the institutions have God-like qualities, and even whether a system of leaders and followers is desirable. Each individual is now coming to be seen as an equal authority with each other person, and all persons are coming to be seen as part of a group of equals who work together for the common good.

In the Aquarian Age, the corporations and institutions will gradually fall away. They will be replaced by communal and cooperative models, in which the barriers between people are broken down, and the communication will be on the level of "You are just like me" and "We can all move ahead together".

We have already seen experiments with the new Aquarian approach in the mid-1960's, when Uranus (which rules Aquarius) was conjunct Pluto. We are soon moving into a Uranus-Pluto square, which will peak in the year 2012, and which will be characterized by rapid advances towards the Aquarian economic paradigm.
